Meet Jenny Bentley

At KWL, we believe our people are our greatest asset. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce Jenny Bentley, our newest Senior HR Advisor, who brings a wealth of experience and genuine passion to our team.

A Journey of Professional Growth

Jenny’s career path is a testament to continuous learning and adaptability. After 13 years at Reckitt in Hull, where she evolved from an administrative role to supporting directors, Jenny discovered her true calling in human resources. At the age of 30, she decided to pursue a Business Management Degree at the University of Hull, igniting her interest in HR.

With the encouragement of her employer, Jenny transitioned into HR in 2017, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Over the past eight years, she has honed her skills in various HR functions, including working with individuals in the Research and Development sector at Reckitt.

Embracing New Challenges

After her time at Reckitt, Jenny ventured into the education sector at Hull College. This experience was eye-opening as she navigated the complexities of a different operational environment.

When the opportunity at KWL arose, Jenny recognised it as the perfect chance to embrace new challenges and contribute meaningfully to a dynamic team. “KWL feels like the best of both worlds,” she explains. “It has the agility of a private sector company while operating under the umbrella of public sector values. The family atmosphere here is unlike anywhere I’ve worked before.”

A Human-Centric Approach to HR

Jenny’s philosophy centres around building trust and maintaining strong relationships within the organisation. “HR often gets a bad rep,” she notes. “But here at KWL, we have established a culture of trust and collaboration. We’re seen as partners rather than just an administrative function.”

Every day in her role is unique because she engages with individuals facing specific issues and requirements. “I thrive on managing priorities and adapting to whatever comes my way,” she shares. “This role channels my strengths perfectly – it’s ideal for flexible and agile people.”

Passion Beyond Work

Outside of her professional life, Jenny enjoys staying active by going to the gym and tackling DIY projects at home, however, one of her greatest passions is ice hockey.

As a super-fan at Hull Ice Arena, Jenny never misses a chance to catch games featuring either the Hull Seahawks or The Jets. “I love being at the ice arena, I started going as a figure skater and I never missed the Friday night disco! Going to ice hockey games with my parents sparked my lifelong love for the sport.”

As a season pass holder for Hull Seahawks, Jenny appreciates Sunday night games as a thrilling way to wrap up her weekends. “The energy in the arena is electrifying – the loud music and crowd chants leave me completely wired when I get home!”
