Given the opportunity, Rob would love to travel to Mars

We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Fleet Manager at KWL, Rob Fairclough.

Rob has taken on a hybrid job role at KWL to oversee all of our vans, which comprise of over 250 vehicles within the KWL fleet. He also manages all of our drivers from a compliance point of view.

After working as the Branch Manager for a number of years at Kwikfit in Bridlington, Rob was seeking a new challenge closer to home. When the Fleet Manager vacancy became available at KWL, he was keen and made a very good impression with our team.

As Fleet Manager, Rob is based at our head office on Kingwood but also works with the team at KWL Fleet on Stockholm Road to keep up to speed with changes in the motor vehicle industry and the ever-changing technology as we move towards fully a electric fleet.

With a broad range of interests, Rob’s career has taken in many different job types. He is a qualified mechanic and electrician and now enjoys managing our fleet operations.

Personally he also enjoys learning and is currently studying his BSc (Honours) in Mathematics and Physics with Open University. He explains:

“I am doing this Degree simply because I love learning. I have a fascination with the Universe and all of its wonder. I have been following the James Webb Telescope and love astro physics and this type of space science. If I had the opportunity I would definitely go to Mars and who knows, it may even be a possibility in my lifetime.”

On his way to work each day, you will find Rob enjoying a ride on his motorbike, keeping out of traffic queues and avoiding the delays.

Rob lives in Hull with his wife and their young children, aged 9, 5 and 2. His youngest son has a learning disability and he was pleased to know that support and advice is available from other members of the team who also have children with autism. He adds:

“It is good to have other people at work with similar family circumstances that are able to understand the issues that can be faced as a family. It feels good to have an employer who shows compassion and understanding too.

“I am really enjoying working here at KWL and pleased I took the opportunity.”
