Vehicle MOTs

We provide vehicle MOTs from our fleet division – this facility is open to the general public.

We do not undertake any vehicle repairs in respect of any MOT failures – if this happens you can return your vehicle for a re-test. This would be either a partial re-examination before the end of the next working day for certain VOSA designated items or within 10 working days which is chargeable at half the full fee rate.

Our customers have commented that they come to us for their MOTs as they feel it gives them comfort that we are completely independent and that we do not have any conflicting interests to find things wrong that would generate extra chargeable work for us.

We operate a system of time slots for all MoTs between the hours of 06:30 and 17:30.

To book your MOT with our fleet division, call us on 01482 615840

MOT information

The MOT test checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards.

You must get an MOT for your vehicle by either:

  • the third anniversary of its registration
  • the anniversary of its last MOT, if it’s over 3 years old

Some vehicles need to be tested at one year old – this generally relates to taxis, ambulances and passenger vehicles carrying more than 9 passengers. You can check this on the government’s website for the MOT fees table.

Via the government website you can also sign up to get a free MOT reminder by text message or email a month before your MOT is due.

You can be fined up to £1,000 for driving a vehicle without a valid MOT.

Earliest date you can get an MOT

An MOT lasts for 12 months – you can get an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date.

If your MOT has run out

You can’t drive your vehicle on the road if the MOT has run out. You can be prosecuted if caught.

The only exceptions are to drive it:

  • to or from somewhere to be repaired
  • to a pre-arranged MOT test
