At KWL, we take pride in supporting the growth and development of our team members, and Adam Lister’s career is a shining example of this commitment. Over the past five years, Adam has demonstrated incredible dedication and enthusiasm, progressing through a variety of roles within the company and continually expanding his skill set.
Starting his career as a ground worker by trade, Adam joined KWL as a Building Surveyor. Since then, he has taken on roles as an R&M Supervisor and Assistant Quantity Surveyor before recently moving to the role of Planned Works Supervisor, reflecting his passion for learning and the drive to take on new challenges.
“I really enjoy being onsite in the thick of the operations,” Adam shares. “I enjoy dealing with challenges that arise on a site, and as much as I enjoyed surveying, I really wanted to be back in the supervisory role.”
Adam’s career progression has been supported by extensive training opportunities at KWL. From team-building exercises to completing his Site Manager Safety Training, he has embraced every chance to broaden his knowledge and skills.
“For me, it’s important to have a good understanding of the business as a whole,” he explains. “Instead of focusing on one role, I am commercially aware, mindful of health and safety issues, and operationally knowledgeable. I have a bigger understanding of what is required to get the work done.”
Adam credits KWL’s supportive environment for helping him advance in his career. “I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to work my way up at KWL. One of the great characteristics of the company is that, as opportunities become available, the management team always supports those who wish to grow.”
In addition to excelling professionally, Adam has embraced a healthy lifestyle through KWL’s partnership with Latus Gym. He has established a positive fitness routine that keeps him energised and focused.
Outside of work and fitness, Adam has also pursued exciting hobbies. Previously an avid car racer at Cadwell Park, he recently earned his motorbike license and now enjoys track days on two wheels. “It provides a safe environment where motorbike riders can hone their skills without worrying about other vehicles on the road,” he says. “It helps build confidence while having fun.”
Adam also loves early morning rides to Whitby during the summer months. “I get up at 4:30am on Sunday mornings and ride up to Whitby. I can be there for 7am and head back home by 10:30am. I miss all the traffic and can enjoy everything around me without distractions.”
Originally from Burstwick but now living in Hull, Adam is a dedicated family man who loves spending time with his partner, their four children, and their dog.
Adam’s journey at KWL highlights how hard work, enthusiasm, and a supportive workplace can lead to incredible growth. We’re proud to have him as part of our team and look forward to seeing all that he will continue to achieve in his new role as Planned Works Supervisor.
Congratulations, Adam! Your story inspires us all!
