KWL Colleagues Direct £6,500 to Local Charities Close to Their Hearts

Committed to supporting the local community, KWL has donated £6,500 to a range of regional charities – chosen directly by its people.

The funding comes from a supplier who wished to discharge its Corporate Social Responsibilities through KWL, asking that the money be used to benefit charitable causes. Staying true to community-first values, KWL invited colleagues to nominate and select organisations close to their hearts, ensuring the donations would make a meaningful local impact.

Seven charities have been chosen so far, each carrying out vital work across Hull and the surrounding area. These include Age UK Hull, which supports older people to live independently and stay connected; Candlelighters, which provides support to children with cancer and their families; Hull 4 Heroes, offering housing and support services to veterans and Oakwood Dog Rescue.

Also receiving funding are Mysterious Minds, a mental health charity working creatively with individuals across the city; HEY Centre for the Deaf, which supports deaf and hard-of-hearing people; and Matthew’s Hub, which supports young people aged 13 upwards who have been diagnosed with autism/ADHD without a learning disability

Each charity received a share of the fund, with donations ranging from £500 to £1,500, helping to sustain and grow the essential services they provide.

By placing the decision in the hands of employees, KWL wanted to support important causes but also empowered the team to champion the organisations they care about most. The initiative reflects KWL’s ongoing dedication to strengthening communities and making a positive difference across Hull.
