Claire Good joined us at KWL just before Christmas (2021) as Quality and Compliance Manager.
Following the retirement of our former Performance and Quality Manager who had helped to drive our environmental policy, Claire has now taken the reins, becoming a key member of KWL’s internal Environmental Group.
In previous employment, Claire worked at a local food distribution company and although she was happy in her job, she came across this role vacancy and decided to take on a new challenge. The skills and knowledge she had built up within the food safety sector, have transferred into the Quality team here at KWL where Claire is managing compliance and accreditations for the quality management systems that has been achieved so far.
When Claire was initially offered the role here at KWL, she admits she has some reservations as her previous employer had been understanding to her family situation. Claire’s son is autistic and with a younger daughter too, all her spare time is spent with her family. She explains:
“Whilst my job is hugely important to me, my family has to take priority and although I rarely have to take time off, it is good to know that if I am needed, my employer would be happy for me to alter my work from home days if required. Not all employers are quite so flexible but after long conversation with our Chief Operations Officer, Roger Grannon, I knew I would be working for a kind and caring employer.
“It took many years for us to get a diagnosis for our son who is now 11 years old. It has been difficult getting him the help he deserves in an educational provision. Having him settled and happy in a specialist school has made all the difference. For parents, this provides a huge relief and enables us to go to work, without the additional worry of what might happen during the day at a mainstream school.
“KWL has been a positive career move for me, I am thoroughly enjoying this new role which brings interesting challenges and wonderful work colleagues.”
