KWL Welcomes 15 New Apprentices at 2026 Presentation Evening

KWL has celebrated the start of 15 young people’s careers at its 2026 Apprentice Presentation Evening, at Hull’s Guildhall.

Joined by proud family members and KWL colleagues, the new apprentices marked their place on this year’s highly competitive programme, having been selected from 253 applicants.

The group will begin apprenticeships in electrical, plumbing, joinery, plastering and tiling, fleet, business administration and a new health and safety pathway.

For the apprentices, the evening marked the beginning of a career with one of Hull’s largest construction, maintenance and property-services employers.

Building local careers

KWL apprentices gain practical experience alongside experienced colleagues while working towards recognised qualifications. They will support the company’s work maintaining, improving and developing homes and properties across Hull.

KWL employs around 550 local people and has an annual turnover of more than £80 million. Its apprenticeship programme is a key part of its commitment to developing local talent and creating long-term employment opportunities.

For many, an apprenticeship is the first step in a working lifetime with KWL. As well as developing a skilled trade, apprentices can progress into technical, supervisory, operational and management roles as their experience grows.

The addition of a health and safety pathway this year also reflects the range of careers available within the construction and maintenance sector.

The evening celebrated not only the achievements of the new apprentices, but also the families who have supported them as they take this important first step.

Congratulations to all 15 members of KWL’s 2026 apprentice intake.
