Talk Money Week – HEY Credit Union and KWL

KWL has been recognised by HEY Credit Union as one of the enlightened employers that takes the financial well-being of employees seriously by providing access to a workplace savings scheme.

HEY Credit Union is the Humber Region’s leading not-for profit savings and loans co-operative.

During national Talk Money Week (7-11 November 2022) HEY Credit Union highlighted the benefits of such schemes, where workers can save direct from their wages with a reputable provider. All funds are 100% protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

This year a number of KWL employees took advantage of the HEY Credit Union scheme. The payroll department has set up a deduction to one or more of HEY Credit Union’s savings accounts. The payment goes straight into the savings without the money hitting the personal bank account. This has been proven to be the best way for people to start a savings habit and to continue it month after month.

John Smith, HEY Credit Union’s Chief Executive, says: Thank you for your involvement with HEY Credit Union, we are very proud to have KWL as one of our payroll partners and appreciate what you do to promote the scheme to your work family”.

HEY Credit Union has been providing this much-loved employee benefit for workforces across the Humber Region for 20 years, to save for Christmas, holidays, a family celebration, or even towards retirement. The scheme also offers affordable, responsible loans to spread the cost of big purchases, or to smooth the impact of unexpected bills, with repayments confidentially arranged in the same way, direct from their pay.

Roger Grannon, Chief Operations Officer at KWL says:

“The cost of living crisis is having an impact on everyone in our community, therefore, we felt it was important to discuss with staff and support them to build better resilience.

“We had a great response and a large number of employees have started a regular savings habit.

“I hope this will encourage more employers across the region to talk to HEY Credit Union about setting up a similar partnership scheme, which does not involve any cost to either the employer or their participating staff.”
