Adam Lister has recently been promoted at KWL to Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
This is the third position Adam has held at KWL, since starting with the firm, as a Building Surveyor 2 years ago.
His career began as an Apprentice in Groundworks and Civil Engineering working for number of different companies before becoming employed by one of KWL’s sub-contractors, where he worked closely with our team and already had good relationships with his colleagues at KWL. Therefore, two years ago when the opportunity came up to work within our Building Survey Team, he jumped at the chance.
Adam has always been very enthusiastic about his work. He explains:
“Becoming a Quantity Surveyor is what I have always wanted to do and I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to work my way up at KWL. This is one of the great characteristics of the company, as opportunities become available, the management team always supports those who wish to grow.
“KWL is well-known as a great employer. For some time before I got the job, I was keen to work here as the company has a unique way of working. It takes all of the best qualities from both the public and private sectors.
“As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, my day involves pricing up and quoting works for our clients’ jobs, seeking to minimise the cost and risk of a construction project and enhance value for money. This can involve all different types of work citywide; repairs and maintenance to tenanted properties and the refurbishment of void properties. I also prepare tender packages for local sub-contractors to price.
“At the moment, our team is working in East Hull following the external wall insulation scheme. With this we are renewing the footpaths outside, as the cladding insulation alters the width of the paths to the perimeter of the properties.”
Adam is originally from Burstwick and now lives in Hull. He is a family man and loves to spend time with his partner, their 4 children and 2 dogs.
He also loves speeding his beloved track car, a Peugeot 106 around Cadwell Park or Blyton Park as often as he can. Adam will also be obtaining his national B race license this year looking to compete all over the UK, with a new car in a production cup next year.
